50 Shades of Gray is fanfiction written by woman... OP seems like a type of person to clap for Karine Jean-Pierre despite the disaster that were her news conferences.
Most of published SH fanfics were written by men because those books are old and more male writers published. They should be free domain now I think.

50 Shades of Grey was disguised as original fiction before being published, it wasn't published with the names of the original characters as the book in the secret is. It's a completely different situation.
