This is confusing to me. I can totally understand being frustrated that people are wasteful of water, but drinking it has got to be the single least wasteful (and most necessary) use I can think of.

You acknowledge that your way of thinking about this is messed up, which is something, I guess. Because yeah, it really, really is. Your way of thinking about it makes no sense at all.

If you really want to be annoyed, it would make infinitely more sense to be annoyed that people can't just drink from the tap, since the water used in manufacturing the bottle(s) the drinking water comes in is almost certainly a much larger volume of water than is contained in said bottle(s).
