I'm a blogger who tried to become a youtuber, and you don't know what you're talking about. Sure, prettifying my blog took some time, but once the code was down, it didn't need to change. For youtube videos, the work on editing is continuous and I'm not exaggerating when I say that a 10 second clip would take over an hour to edit. And in order to make any money on youtube, you need at least 10 minutes. I released 3 5-minute videos, of which each took a month to finish, before giving up and sticking to blogging. It takes years to build up enough following on the channel to monetize it, if you have less than 300,000 followers you can't even dream of making any money on your videos and how many tumblrs have you seen with 300,000 followers? For most people the amount of work it takes to make money on youtube is equivalent to a job, except it's less paid than many jobs.
