(Anonymous) 2022-08-08 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)... so what? Literally, so what? Everyone is trying to make ends meet, fan artists aren't special or unique in that sense. It doesn't give them the right to steal someone else's IP. They can get a job like the rest of us.
If what they want is to be able to make a living off their art they should look into professional art jobs. Illustrators and 3D modelers are always in demand, if you can do either of those two things you'll have no end of work. Oh, but it's not as much fun as drawing fanart because you have to draw what your client asks you to and you have deadlines.
Otherwise they should just admit that they're lazy AF and just want to cash in on the popularity of something that someone else went to the work of creating in the first place.

(Anonymous) 2022-08-09 12:36 am (UTC)(link)Also huh lol, artists who draw comissions also have deadlines and very often fanarts are just their way of getting an audience, and most people pay for FANART comissions anyway. And as for 3D modeling it is far from my field but I follow some artists who make cool renders of game characters and sell as comissions. It's cool with me. But being a pro automatically means working even when you don't want to because there is rent to pay so you are not making sense. It's not always fun to draw fanart comissions, tf you sayin.
And I don't blame anyone for trying to escape miserable work conditions anyway which happens often in "creative" fields.
So all in all I am merely being realistic. I don't see anything morally wrong with charging for pro-level ""fanworks"" .
