Oooh, I love the German cover of The Goblin Emperor and since the description fits, I assume it's about that book and the Witness for the Dead sequels.

Yeah, there are a looot of characters and stuff that would be overwhelming if it's the first thing you see but I don't see why your friend didn't just skip it... unless ofc they feared they'd be lost otherwise?
