As someone who’s permanently out of the loop about Twitter conversations… can anyone help me out with some examples?

There are some twists I love that people write off as "lazy twists to impress people on Twitter". And there are honestly very few twists where I feel like it's truly a result of laziness or just trying to play to the cheap seats.

God yes. They are all about giving people something to be snide about, to say they appreciate this work because the twist is ever so twisty, the pretentious bastards. It is also a waste of time, twitter and pretentious bastards need no encouragement to be snide. They'll be happy to make something up to do so all on their own.

I think it also can go the other way. A good twist is overlooked/not valued for what it is because all Twitter can do is have every member try to have their ~spicy~ hot take on the twist go viral. And/or the 2 hours everyone has a meltdown over it is all that is given to the twist until the next hot topic to occur on Twitter has everyone dropping it to be forgotten.

I fucking hate living in this meaningless shit world.

Your comment has made me think that I do kinda miss the days when I didn't know exactly what everyone I even just vaguely had a connection to thought about the ending of a show, or an entire film or book.

I do like being able to discuss shared interests so easily of course but sometimes...the amount of noise is just exhausting? And like you say, it's super intense for a couple of hours and then recedes but here comes the next Thing that Made Everyone Mad and the cycle repeats.
