(Anonymous) 2022-08-14 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)Read critically! Is there something in a genre you want to write? Even if it's fic, you've got some type of category you're writing from found family to romance, to mysteries. (I dunno.) Find and read stuff in a similar genre (fic or pubbed) and analyze WHY it works. (And then toss what you don't like, especially in trad pubbed stuff. They sell what they think sells. It might not be what you want to read and write.)
Relax. Take one bit at a time. Want to work on dialog. Just work on dialog and finding ways to not do question and answers or 'how can I say it without being blunt and outright saying it!' Want to tackle description, then just tackle description. Want to work on action, then remember it's action. Reaction. Each sentence does one thing. Each paragraph is for one thing. But just focus on action (Smut falls under action.)
If you want basic grammar and SPAG, Grammarly can help. Like most writing programs it's better for technical writing than creative writing. So, take it with a grain of salt. Hemmingwayapp is for 'readability' if you're worried about that. But remember, Hemmingway hated adverbs and any "extra" type of text. (Sometimes we need it creatively.)
Hope this helps!
