My workplace is chronically understaffed. It's a plague. So when I read an email this morning saying "we keep exceeding the personnel budget, so we have to change some things", I got angry. I think everyone is angry. Whoever is in charge of the budget needs to be forced to do our jobs for a month. Then they can decide where all the money I know they have because they keep spending it on other things should go.

I feel you. My previous job regularly expected staff to do two-person tasks alone and somehow man two floors, alone, then get disciplined when we inevitably got shoplifted to fuck. Meanwhile our management couldn't possibly come in to assist us because they had pressing matters like... attending a local Comic Con. Yes, this was a genuine reason given.

I don't know your situation OP, but I hope you manage to escape, or that the working environment improves at least. You deserve way better.
