Re: Work!

In April I got two job offers that were higher pay than what I had. I love my job but wanted higher pay and work from home. I brought these offers to my boss, and he matched them (i am the only one that can do my role) . So, more I work from home 90% of the week.

I came into work today and the other coworker in my "department" asked to talk to me privately. She told me that the sales team had been approaching her to complain about me getting to wfh (not sure what they know about higher pay). That it is bad for morale. They tried to get her to agree that it wasn't fair. That isn't the part I am angry about.

They accused me of working two jobs. One of them tried to get the names of the companies I interviewed for (she didn't know them) so that she could call and see if I was working there. That seems incredibly fucked up to me. I want to say something to them but my coworker doesn't want to get in the middle of all this (they will know she told me).

But like...calling to places to see if I work there is fucked up, right?

That's definitely crossing boundaries. If they're so concerned that you're working two jobs AND it's against company policy, then they should have taken it up with their manager or HR. It's not their fucking business what you do when you WFH so long as your work gets done and you haven't violated any regulations.

That's a them problem. The whole way. They're unhappy with the concessions made for you? Let them go find an offer and bring it to the boss. It is fucked up, and it's as anon above said, something they should be bringing to HR or the boss, not your coworker. What? They think she's gonna dissuade you from WFH? FOH lmao.

I would pay them no mind. They are crossing a line, and I don't know why they aren't minding their business. I've never heard of such oversteps before. Wtf. At most I'd tell the coworker who confided to what they said to let them bring to HR and the boss. Pay those fools no mind, OP. Do what you're being paid to do. You literally did what people do when they like where they are but want more pay. And the boss responded accordingly. These people clearly don't know how to respect boundaries or mind their business.

I have certain coworkers that work from home. I don't ask any questions as to why or what have you because it's not my business, and that's clearly between the boss and them. I don't know what's wrong with that department.

I'm pretty sure that's none of your coworker's business and that it's none of the sales team's business.

I also strongly suspect your coworker is trying to stir up shit and maybe you should ignore her.

You worked out a deal with your boss. If other people aren't happy with their jobs, it's on them to talk to their boss. Or to go somewhere else. If they have time to be whining because you have a better deal than they do, then they have time to be coming up with a solution to their own problems. But again, I suspect that your coworker is exaggerating or possibly flat out lying about this because she might be the one who doesn't like you working from home. (Obviously, I have no proof of this, but it just reeks of that to me.)

...Yeah, that's just not right. -_- Definitely something to... escalate to someone? Boss? HR?

And I don't know what people's stupid problem is with WFH. I've been doing it for years because of disability that went way downhill shortly after I got hired, but this last year at least two (possibly three) people who have the same job I do but full-time quit because they weren't allowed to work from home anymore, although they had also been doing their jobs from home during the worst of the pandemic. And so now we're way understaffed and the person pulling the weight of 4 full-time positions that haven't been filled again? A part-timer working from home. Because they won't allow anyone else to work from home. wtf.
