I have seen some older generations being condescending to GenZers about AO3, but it is absolutely true that GenZ's problem is literally not knowing how to use the search function, because that's exactly what they say their problem with it is. They don't know how to use it, and they don't believe it's easy to learn, so they refuse to try.

I think the condescension they're treated with for being this way is playing a part in their continued refusal to learn, because what teenager likes being told they're wrong like they're a child? But I also can't blame my generation for being frustrated with the attitude. Add the fact that most GenZ fandom hates older fandom members because of anti culture, and you have one group of people insisting an easy thing is hard and another group that knows better being out of the patience, or not even being allowed the chance, to show them how easy it really is.
