....Yeah. I saw a bunch of Twitter threads with people explaining that when they said "Don't watch the Kenshin reboot because the creator is a pedophile", they actually meant like... literally he was arrested and charged for having a ton of recordings of children being molested. Not "he ships underage characters" or something. Literally a pedo, definitely not just differing opinions about where to draw the line in "problematic" fictional relationships.

The absolute comedy in motion is the amount of times people in various fandoms act like they're activists with criticizing the wildest shit that involves racism in fandom (a few examples by said people's definition; you're a racist if you don't ship a POC character or if you don't interpret a character as a non-white race regardless of the original source) - but the second actual POC people in fandom spaces voice up issues or the problems they themselves have actually faced in these spaces, they get shut down or suddenly are some kind of problematic that apparently means their experiences are suddenly null and void.

I had to stop watching a Daria channel because some unhinged idiot kept shrieking about the possibility of Daria and Trent, due to the five year age gap between them. It got so bad that the anti even attacked a real-life victim of an actual predatory relationship and accused them of being predator apologists (while conveniently ignoring everything else the victim was saying). To this day, I couldn't tell if they were trolling or not. I can't imagine acting that insane over a fictional couple that literally doesn't even exist in canon.

Yeah, whenever I see a "pedophilia" accusation in fandom now, I just know it's going to be ship war bullshit 98.9% of the time. It has no impact anymore. This is very bad for that tiny percentage of cases where it is the real fucking thing and we barely have words to talk about it anymore.

It's why I can't take fandom "morality" seriously. It's just an act. They say one thing and do exactly the opposite. They screech about kindness while hurling horrible insults at people.

They seem to think that verbally abusing a real person over A FIGMENT OF IMAGINATION somehow makes them better than the rest. Ha! What a joke. Fandom is one of the most toxic places I know.

It ruined my day for several days too... Phantom wasn't literally my first fandom, but it was the first I got involved with deeply, my first online fandom, and will always be the one that's most important to me. The Broadway production closing is such an end of an era... Sighhh. (I was the OP of the similar secret last week.)

I followed Naruto up to its end in the 2010s (think it was 2015 but idk and can't be arsed to check) and I can safely say that as much as I still love the characters to this day, I have no idea what the storyline was suppose to be beyond Naruto yearning for Sasuke to the end.

Like the very last part I could understand that a war was happening, zombies were there and Neji was the only one who got screwed over.
But yay Sasuke and Naruto were besties again in the end.
