If AO3 starts aggressively collecting data of my browsing habits, I am OUT of there, no matter how much assurance I get that is this "for the purposes of supporting the users" and that there are no advertisers to worry about. What, you'd just take their word for it? "Purely for the benefit of their userbase", are you kidding me? No one would undertake that resource-intensive task for the collective good. And fanfiction-browsing habits are sensitive, potentially damaging information.
