....Yeah. I saw a bunch of Twitter threads with people explaining that when they said "Don't watch the Kenshin reboot because the creator is a pedophile", they actually meant like... literally he was arrested and charged for having a ton of recordings of children being molested. Not "he ships underage characters" or something. Literally a pedo, definitely not just differing opinions about where to draw the line in "problematic" fictional relationships.

It's frightening how many people need it explained to them that yes, photos and videos of real children being violated for real is in fact MASSIVELY different from cartoon drawings. Like, not on the same planet. The hysteria is focused entirely on what people might be theoretically getting off to in the imagination, and not on the effect on the victim (which is the main reason why real CSEM is so terrible).

It's appalling how some people will still go on to say that what he did wasn't *that bad* because it's not like he actually touched any of those kids. Like, what the hell, man?

...Well on strictly technical terms it's true that buying hundreds of hours of video footage of SOMEONE ELSE raping kids was perhaps not "as bad" as actually raping them himself - but when you're that far into the outer darkness there's not a lot of difference between shades of grey. :P

There were also the people, possibly trying to excuse themselves for ever enjoying Rurouni Kenshin, by saying the manga was so wholesome that nobody could have predicted the author being such a reprehensible person.

That's the whole point of what everyone with a working brain has been saying since antis started their shit. You can't know what a person would do or would never do IRL by looking at what they write or draw or like in fiction! Decent people can make fucked up fiction, and just as easily, horrible people can make wholesome fiction!
