OP again!

Also, please feel free to discuss anything you'd like about this book! I'm already in love with the robot too and I'm not even in too deep. Also, it has to be that one, not any other one you can order.

I absolutely love Lee's descriptive voice. Her way of talking about color, emotion, voice. I love love love Egyptia for the chaos and brilliance and color of her, and Jane for her steadily growing self-acceptance and strength....

Clovis is and will always be a favorite.

I love, too (and admit I've copied from time to time), Lee's use of archaic words to describe color or taste. Old words for colors, or flavors, or plants...she makes such a rich tapestry, it's like being soaked in color and scent and taste.

Your last sentence is confusing me....

Oh, she does a great job describing people and placea. I get a very vivid image without her having to go into ultra detailed first chapter of the Fellowship of the Rings levels of exposition.

And agreed about the characters. They all glitter in mind, somehow. Even her mother!

As for the last sentence, I was not making the best use of words, lol. I meant I too fell for the robot in question, however, it has to be the original robot. The model that can be ordered by any of the citizens will not do - it has to be the first one Jane layed her eyes on. I hope that cleared that up.

Ah ha, okay, yes, that makes sense, heh. I agree.

Ooh, glitter is a good way to put it!
Now I'm secretly hoping you like it well enough to read other books of hers.
:D

I had no idea she had more! If my library's ebook collection has it, definitely going to check it out! I've gotten some good recs from this place (Blue Castle, Mercedes Lackey). Thanks for sharing!

She has SO MANY BOOKS, omg. Some sci-fi, some fantasy, some AU historical, one really cool 'mostly' historical one about the French Revolution, some horror (vampires, werewolves), AU fairy tale takes, stories that lean into South Asian mythology as well (take with a grain of salt, as while she's sympathetic, she's also often writing from the POV of turn of the century or earlier British colonizers....)
She even has some YA books that are just delightful.

*flails*
I would recommend, but I might just bury you under titles. :D

Also, the entire world she's describing...I almost want to see it animated or CGI'd, something. But not cheap animation. Something beautiful yet uncanny and strange. Make me feel like I'm watching the new millennium coming but with far better graphics.

Wouldn't THAT be cool? I would love that, too.

I think this animation style/animators could do it justice. The Golden Woman, especially in close up, is just so extraordinarily amazing looking, other-worldly, and beautiful....

This looks so interesting and amazing. I need to watch this! I have to see if I can find an animation style that came to mind, but this is definitely up there. Wow.
