anyone know how to get back into writing a fic after falling off the bandwagon for a few months due to motivation issues?

I wrote a story last year and started the sequel almost immediately and then abandoned it in May and just came back to it in August. I reread both stories and made a playlist and just kind of vibed with the story to get back into the plot and rhythm of the story and character voices. It's going really well, I was stuck on chapter six and now I've just posted chapter ten last week (of a planned fifteen).

For me, I listen to music that reminds me of that fic (listening to music helps me with writing, for some fics I might have a couple of songs as a "theme" song for my fic, like a soundtrack ^_^ ) as I re-read bits of the unfinished fic. It tends to rev up a little creativity juice.

Also...I read a fic or two that is similar in premise (or even just the same pairing) to my fic and see how that writer wrote and apply it to myself "Do I write like that?" "What would I write different?"
I try not to go in with a jealous/envious mindset ("what can I do to write better than this person?") More of a self evaluating exercise ("what makes this fic work? does it apply to my writings? Why/why not?" "What methods could I try out in my own writings?" "Does this trope/theme seem too repetitive? Do I care?")

Like, focus on yourself more than the other writer(s)/works. What you're looking for is something to relate to and contrast to your own ideas.
