I get what you're saying and I actually think it's true for most people, but you're linking studies about music, which is a completely different medium than movies/TV shows. The brain reacts in a very distinct manner to music. I don't think those studies are 100% relevant to this topic (even if the conclusion could be correct even for movies etc).

IMHO I believe that rewatching movies/TVshows is more a "I'm too stressed out and/or tired to deal with new stories / cliffhangers / drama I don't know the resolution of" than simply getting older.
