'Blorbo' has quickly become my least favorite fandom buzzword.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. I've blocked it, it annoys me so much

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
What a curiously random thing to be that annoyed by.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Where are you from where people are only annoyed by specific, logical things?

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Why not? I don't think about it every day of my life or something, I just used tools available to me to minimize thing that annoys me. A lot of memes and words trigger something in my brain, it's like an itch I can't scratch. It has no need to be logical.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Funnily it's how human brains work, sometimes dumb, petty shit annoys us. You'll have your own annoyances that we'd find stupid and petty but you're allowed to have them.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
obviously do what you gotta do (I did the same for discourse not too long ago due to one specific fandom I follow) - but I'm genuinely curious, does blocking that word make it harder to look through fandom?
I'm only asking cause in my fandom it seems to be everywhere - although I suppose it depend what your looking for (like fan art/fanfics).

(Anonymous) 2022-10-31 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Dunno. I just don't see posts or if we are talking tumblr I see 'post is blocked' post and go on my way. I will miss some art or discussion? Good, I don't want them from people who use this word. I use block button freely and I have no regrets about it

(Anonymous) 2022-10-31 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh that's absolutely understandable, thank you for answering my question.

I have only just encountered it recently here, and I have no friggin' clue.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It's rapidly outpacing 'smol' for me.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Smol? Presumably not the laundry brand.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It was an infantilising term for fandom faves. 'My smils'. It was pukeworthy.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
'my smils' even.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-31 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. I've only seen it in the context of a funny misspelling of "small"-- usually referring to adorable kittens.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I never see people using "smol" unironically anymore, that one feels dead to me

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so!

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
so glad that's not a thing any more (except for smol will smith because of that one photo edit, otherwise it was annoyingly patronizing)

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah it's gotten up there as a dumb word I can't stand seeing anymore. It'll die off eventually but until it does, ugh.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-30 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
same. it went from used once in a group and roundly mocked to widely used everywhere I visit in like, two months. I hate it. it's just so nails-on-chalkboard irritating.

(Anonymous) 2022-10-31 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like it either. I have no idea about it origin and it sounds so stupid.

I hope it vanishes as soon quickly as it appeared

(Anonymous) 2022-10-31 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear that this weird word you hate came from a tumblr meme.
