Not OP but I think maybe you read too much into it. It’s basically just saying that embracing both parts of his heritage makes him his best self. Trying to fit a mold for just one or the other holds him back from truly being Super.

Okay. Willing to admit I might be misreading it. It seems like everyone else was reading it the other way, so my initial reaction was probably wrong.

Are you reading this as Superman in general maybe? Because this is the plot of the comic in the secret. The one where the the Chinese family is targeted by the KKK and black people help them and the Chinese people pretend not to know them so no one lumps them in with the black people. And Clark Kent has a total identity crisis of Smallville vs Krypton.
