Completely agree about moralizing. I know some fic authors headcanon their fave characters in a certain way that is similar to themselves, or want the characters to model healthy behavior. But when I feel like the fic is trying to teach me something, it takes me right out of it. Also when modern kink/safer sex concepts are used in period fics.
