(frozen comment) Re: TMI. People with vaginas! Menopause question!

They account for less than 2% of the population, which means that they are an abnormality, not that they point to humans being something other than dimorphic. This is notwithstanding the fact that nominally intersex people are in fact one sex or the other at the level of the gamete. There is not a single person on this planet who has both male and female gametes.

And I am speaking against a genocide of "undesirables." Pushing same-sex attracted and autistic people toward transition is a way to eliminate those groups of people, and I am empathically against it, and my issue is that I believe you lot are unwittingly supporting it.

I don't want the very small amount of intersex people to be harmed; I don't want the very small amount of genuine trans people to be harmed. But you all seem to be very keen on allowing gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and autists to be harmed so that you can avoid offending a certain virulent strain of trans activist.

you don't get to choose who you want to "save" or who "deserves it" and nobody wants "saving". marginalising an already marginalised group in a box where other LGBTQIA (see the T?) can point and laugh at them as a way of stringing yourself up as a martyr. arguing genetics is pointless because each day we reach towards a future where we want to become artificial.

you do want to harm the "very small amount" of trans people by not giving people the right to choose whether or not they want to transition. people have been miserable for decades before you came along because they were never given the option nor knew it was available.

the sooner you people own up and realise that trans people are people deserving of kindness and respect, the sooner we'll all get along.

Can you point to where I said I don't want actual trans people to be able to transition?

I would really like it if you all would respond to what I'm actually saying, rather than to the imaginary person you're arguing with.

NAYRT

You want the subset of trans people who you consider trans to be able to transition.

You don't want the larger subset of trans people that you do not consider trans to be able to transition, regardless of whether they happen to disagree with you.

A) The group of people at odds here - IE, trans people who you do not believe are trans - largely reject your whole project and outlook on the world, and they do not believe that you are helping them. They believe that you are trying to make their lives worse. This remains true no matter how much you write it off as "virulent trans activism".

B) Whatever you may want or desire, it is *inevitable* that in any world that more aggressively polices gender boundaries, intersex people and trans people whose trans identity you accept would face greatly increased discrimination.

C) The social conservatives who are the allies of your movement simply want to eliminate homosexuality and divergence from traditional gender norms, period. To the extent that they have any influence on the outcomes of your political project it would certainly lead to much greater and more severe mistreatment of women, trans people, gay people, and more or less everyone else.

D) I think the thesis that underlies your whole argument - that gender transition is a mechanism for forcing people to be straight and neurotypical - is wrong. There are several things that make me think it's wrong. For one thing, it just is not what it is happening; those are not the facts on the ground. Second, the structure of your argument relies on assuming that you simply know what is best for straight trans men and autistic trans people, that they simply do not know what is best for them and can't sort out their own lives and make their own decisions. And third, on a conceptual level, the idea that gender diversity and questioning of gender is at odds with neurodiversity and sexual diversity doesn't wash. In fact, these things all support each other.
