This is the long and the short of it, yep. I'm not opposed to having a conversation on the subject of how race is intimated or established canonically in OFMD, or about race and racism in OFMD more broadly. Lots of good points have been made ITT to that end. But at the end of the day my stance remains: he's a fictional character, do what you want.

DA

This is the attitude I want in my fandoms. As opposed to one where other people object to thinking and writing unless they already believe in the uplifting social effect of a particular headcanon. Story unseen, knowing nothing else about what you could make with it. And proud of their lack of curiosity, to boot.

I'm beyond tired of moral jumpiness, whether the argument is "WHY did you imagine this character as white?" or "WHY is half of this ship underage?" or "WHY do we need another story where abuse does not conform to my idea of realism?" or ... you fill in the blank.
