Shrug. I did love it, but I feel your misgivings are valid.

The female lead *is* cutesy, and squeaky-voiced, and a lot of the kissing scenes are awkward because a lot of the romance is intentionally a bit awkward.

On the whole, the plot feels aimed at what a 12-year-old girl would love, and I enjoyed it on that level - a tropey, tropey plot that I could nostalgically wallow in with some completely fucking glorious production values. (Also, a lot of the body-swapping scenes are utterly hilarious - both actors really brought their A-game in being 'someone else'.)

Yeah, I've only recently started it and I loved when she was acting as the demon (and didn't have to use the cutesy voice!).
