That sounds like it comes from the same place as thinking "proship" is short for "problematic ship."

it almost feels like a response to that. like some proshipper got fed up with people thinking they liked problematic ships and came up with a term that would actually mean what antis say "proship" means so they could differentiate themselves from the real weirdos

but i have no idea what the actual origin of the term is. for all i know it was coined by someone who just really likes complicated ships? which i guess i can kind of relate to, since those are also the sort of ships i tend to like most, even if i find it really weird to want to, like, use that as a label to define myself. idk
