(Anonymous) 2022-12-14 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)But what does what you’re saying overall have to do with NLOGs and what AYRT’s saying? It’s not that I’m saying you’re wrong, I’m just not getting it.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-14 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)I truly do understand your feelings on their own though, even if I don’t know how they relate to AYRT.
I had a lot of guy friends as a kid, and at one point I only had guy friends aside from my oldest and longest-lasting friend being a girl. It was all due to shared interests in shows and videos games that were considered “for boys”. But I never was considered a tomboy by most people because I was just emotionally vulnerable and showed when someone hurt my feelings, and hated when someone tried to casually hit me like they did other boys. So even though a group of boys liked me enough that they considered me a buddy they could talk to about shared interests, show me their action figures, and gave me the title of “one of us”, I wasn’t stereotypically tomboyish. And I didn’t dislike or look down upon girls or femininity. And by the time I was in elementary, I almost only had girls as friends, which would continue throughout the rest of school. I had some girls I hated, but nothing really scarring came from them. And I had a lot of girls I could bond with over similar shows that I used to bond with boys over. The girls in my school were pretty normal, and ranged from nice to rude as most people do. The worst bullying most girls and boys went through came from guys. So the occasional shitty female friend or bitchy classmate never really compared to that for me. The “if you’re a girl, backstabbing girls are the worst people you’ll encounter in school” line didn’t ring true for me or most of my friends. I’m not saying it’s not true for everyone, just that I’m sick of it being portrayed as the norm for girls by media.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-14 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)plenty of girls, autistic or not, get simultaneously looked down on for not performing femininity correctly and not being tough or cool or athletic enough.
So much this.
