given that OP is saying this about someone who was their friend but is no longer your friend, i feel like they have some deeper contextual reasons for saying what they're saying

i sort of get where you're coming from in broader terms. although, even then, people are allowed to react to even partial information and use it to inform their judgments of people; it's just necessary to do it with a grain of salt, not to take one piece of information and use it to form a final and total judgment

your argument here would seem to indicate that it's totally wrong to ever treat something as a red flag. i don't agree with that at all
