Re: Requesting: Anime or Manga

I'm just going to reccommend anime of different genres so you can pick the ones that inspire you the most. Hope you see this message. If you want some more recs or specific genres let me know. I prefer manga to anime but here are some of my favourite anime (that I can recall now):

-Mob Psycho 100. Coming of age story about a boy with very powelful psychic power. Featuring the best con man in the fictional world LMAO. Finished airing its 3rd and final season the other day and it's very good.
-Yu Yu Hakusho. Shounen anime about the spirit world. Good characters and good fights and story. I prefer the manga, but the anime is good too
-Monster by Urasawa Naoki. Psychological thriller with incredibile characters. I haven't watched the anime, but the manga is one of my absolute favourite story EVER.
-Ookiku Furikabutte. Sport anime about baseball. Very cute!
-Sengoku Basara. Trashy "historical" samurais fighting each other. Utterly chaotic action anime inspired by a beat'em all videogame. Featuring the most iconic Engrish in all anime history IMHO
-Tiger & Bunny, 1st season (I still have to watch the 2nd so I can't rec it). It has some mecha elements (???), but it's mostly a story about Super heroes. Good action, good plot twists, good characters and the perfect balance between humor and angst.
-Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! Sailor Moon with guys? IDEK I enjoyed this too much maybe. It's a spoof majokko anime.
-Devilman: Crybaby. Psychological horror. The animation is uhm very particular, but I loved it. The story is slightly different from the manga if I recall correctly. One of my favourite manga of all time so I highly reccomend it. It's a Netflix original.
-Lovely★Complex. Funny rom-com about a tall girl and a short boy. I loved it mostly because they speak in Osaka-ben and not standard japanese. *
-Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san. This is an anime that I never see recommended around. It's a very crass gag comedy about people summoning devils. One of my favourite gag anime/manga *

*DISCLAIMER: I've seen these anime when I already knew Japanese and it's possible that they don't translate that well in English IDEK

Thank you for all these recs (the only I've seen is YYH, of which I did a rewatch about two years ago and bawled like a baby
Truly a timeless great show..maybe I'll check out the manga this time!)

I'm definitely open to adding more to my list, so if you have any more (and the medium you prefer it in), I'm here for it! There's some shows I saw the anime first and read the manga later, like Kami Sama Kiss Kiss, which the manga was better, if only bc it gave the characters more fleshing out and the plot made more sense. So I'm open to checking out both it either of something.

Thank you and definitely going to check a few of these out!

I'm glad you saw my recs! I hope you'll enjoy some of them. :)
Nowadays I don't watch many anime, maybe 2-3 a year maximum, so I can't recommend anything too recent (aside Mob Psycho), but I've seen a lot of them until 2010. Like, A LOT.
As I said I prefer manga, but I can think of other animes that are a little bit more obscure to rec you.

I'll think of other anime/manga and write a thread in a future F!S post! <3

Sailor Moon with guys sounds like something I need to check out, NGL.

It’s really not as good as that premise makes it sound imo. If all you want is a magical boy show, well you get that. But it’s a dumb school comedy more than an action/romance story like Sailor Moon. Nothing wrong with dumb comedies in and of themselves, but it’s really not that funny to me in this instance. And comparing it to Sailor Moon just makes ayrt sound like they haven’t seen or read much mahou shoujo/majokko, because the series are nothing alike besides being transforming magical boys/girls. It’s like I’m back in the 90s-2000s when everyone was calling every mahou shoujo show and manga under the sun a “Sailor Moon rip-off”. I’m not saying it’s true that ayrt hasn’t seen that much of the genre, just that it’s a weirdly surface level comparison.

AYRT
Yeah, fair enough. You're absolutely right. I just didn't know how to describe it aside from spoof majokko. I was under the assumption the OP requesting recs didn't know much animanga so I just cited Sailor Moon since it's the most famous majokko out there.
I enjoyed it because it was silly as hell and it's absolutely non-sense. The enemies and the character relationships are just so stupid they end up being very endearing. But I love stupid anime tropes.

BTW as you can see all my recs are at best surface level. I'm not good with words and I just wanted to OP some names and different genres to check.
