No comments at all? On my part of Tumblr, everyone except me likes Worm, so it's always a surprise to see how little anyone cares about it here.

(I once went on this comics website where seemingly everyone who read the site was a fan of a zombie comic called Shootaround. Outside of that site, I have never, ever heard anyone mention Shootaround. I think Worm occupies the same position, famous within its niche and unknown outside it.)

I've definitely heard of it. But I think "famous within its niche" is correct. And I think secret OP is also correct insofar as that niche is specifically very comics-nerd-bro-ish (as far as I can determine from outside).

I've mostly heard of it because I've seen it get recommended a lot. And it just always comes across as the most intense example of the nerd-bro urge to constantly be asking "what if everything was really real? and really realistic??? and really DARK?!?!?!". Apparently to such an extent that I've developed a real distaste for it, lol. But just, like, what's the fucking point. I don't see the appeal of it at all and the enthusiasm for something that seems so pointless has become actively offputting at this point.

I liked Worm more or less but don't have much to say about the secret. I've liked some Netflix adaptations that were less than faithful but I'd want animated so it could go epic with the superpower scenes. Live action adaptations on TV understandably have to minimize special effects for budget reasons but it can get frustrating when something that's meant to be woven into the story more that a handful of seconds except for the first and last episode where they put in the biggest effects.
