Turkish delight. Those Narnia books had me convinced it was a take on pudding (tapioca, rice take your pick). My disappointment when I finally saw what it was. And when I finally tasted it too. I could see why people like it but it's not my type.

I guess you have to live through a war and have a tax on sweets to understand how precious even Turkish Delight can be to some people

Or maybe some people just like it and others don’t. I think Edmund would have liked it even without the war and tax, personally.
