Honestly? I see a lot of secrets as being less "secrets" and more "discussion points" - this is just a really good place to get a chat going about something fannish and I (for one) wouldn't know where I'd go to get the same kind of low pressure interaction.

Yeah. This is common with two of the main actors in my fandom. One of them mentioned he think he *might* have ADHD in an interview once and suddenly a segment of the fandom was like "omg, he said he's autistic in that interview!" and like, ummm...no he didn't?

The other has never mentioned anything even remotely close to the topic, but a large portion of the fandom has decided he is because "his personality seems like he is" like wtf does that even mean?

The most popular ice cream flavour in the world, by a huge margin, is not chocolate nor strawberry, it is vanilla. There is nothing wrong with vanilla, it is popular for a reason. Same in fandom, more people are vanilla than it appears. Enjoy it.

Not a car enthusiast, and I don't hate it but...

It looks like a Porsche 911, but if it was one of those generic white guy actors who are like, handsome but so incredibly plain. And with that grill and headlights, it's got a face like the grimacing emoji.

Like, it's one thing to, in a convo with friends, describe a celeb as seeming autistic if they share your personal autistic mannerisms-- everyone in that convo knows the tone is light/unserious, and it's not posted out there as Truth for a bunch of strangers to run around with. With one of my friends, we're both autistic and bonded over a shared interest in an actor who VERY much shares autistic traits with both of us, and if we watched an interview together and caught a specific mannerism, yeah, we joke about it. But we're not diagnosing the guy, or having that convo out on, say, twitter for all the world to see, and I'm... not surprised that there are people without boundaries about it. But like... save the public diagnoses and discussions for fictional characters.

So the majority of my main fandom has just decided that two characters are going to have sex next season and act like it's definitely, 100% going to happen. Given the fact that they're both kind of awful people and are semi-enemies (and not even in that "I hate you but I secretly really want you" kind of way), I highly doubt it. I can see how they MIGHT become friends next season if some sort of mutual enemy shows up, but I think it would be OOC and bad writing if they slept together. It'd be disappointing, and I really hope it doesn't happen.

I'm so tired of fandom's insistence that if they like two characters, they totally need to bang in fandom, even if it would make no sense. That's what fanfic is for!

Anyway. Anyone want to complain about dumb fandom things?
