any animals that have been part of the destruction humans have caused to a species, so thylacine, certain types of elephants, rhinoceroses, mammoths, are at the top of my list

Yeah, or the dodo or something. I think the problem with bringing back really ancient creatures is the environment and ecosystem they lived in just doesn't exist anymore and they may not be able to survive outside of zoos. Something that went extinct in the last few thousand years could probably re-establish itself in the wild just fine.
