The worst thing Star Trek: Deep Space Nine did to the Trek franchise was introducing Section Thirty-One. It has been a blight on the franchise ever since, especially with a certain section of fans who miss the point that it is a bad thing for any state to have.

yes, it's an exceptionally good show and nearly everything else about it was incredibly good, and even Section 31 was good in its original context, but it should have been left in DS9 and not continued after that.
