Fandoms: Loveless and Card Captor Sakura


I stopped reading Loveless fairly early on because, while it was beautiful and intriguing and had a lot of sympathetic characters, the shotacon vibes were messing with my head.

But what really messed me up? Was realising how much Soubi was like Keroberous - a wonderful monster who drags a kid into dangerous waters for his own purposes -his own need to be loved - however dangerous that might be for the child.

How is that was Kero dragged Sakura into capturing the cards for? In his view, she set them loose, so she ought to help catch them. That might be too much to expect of a child, realistically, but that’s how his reasoning is. I don’t see how Kero can be interpreted to make Sakura do it because of a need for him to be loved. Yue, maybe. But Kero? I don’t see it. I don’t think he has any similarities to Soubi at all aside from making a child enter into a contract and join a potentially dangerous world that was unknown to them before.

"making a child enter a contract and enter a potentially dangerous world" is what I was thinking of, yes.

And desperately wanting to be loved by said child, to the point their life gains meaning again.

But that’s not why Kero did it, that was just something that happened along the way as he grew close to Sakura. Whereas wanting to be loved was specifically the reason why Soubi does what he does.
