I am (apparently) peak age for being excited by this, I was 7 when the film was released and had the VHS so knew the song well.

I have NEVER given a shit about it so wonder if I'm missing something. I'd leave the room in protest for that part until my dad or my sister pressed the fast forward button. I hated that song and was glad when it was no longer included! I don't care if "the refrain at the end makes no sense without it" - it's a Muppets film, does everything have to make complete sense? Just don't give a shit and go with it?!

The Love We Found at the end of the movie still makes sense on its own too, it is a nice sappy song to celebrate Scrooge's embracing of the spirit of family. It caps off the excitement of Thankful Heart and slows things down to send the audience off thoughtful. It stands on its own in that way.

You know what? You're 100% correct. It's just a nice wee song at the end and doesn't need an explanation other than Scrooge has a new found love for everyone. I think I've just been bombarded with the claims of it not fitting otherwise by the pro "When Love is Gone" people so much that I forget that point.
