i find the "is avatar good" disk horse very funny

both because "is it culturally relevant" is a dumb question: every time I've ever heard it come up, which is at least once a year, people were complaining about it, and that's relevance sorry!

and because "it had zero depth" is a fair critique: like yeah maybe people who think marvel is the height of art should be satisfied but maybe alien red-face is working against the message for some people because it's so simple it feels like a disney movie in a bad way.

and lastly, because those seem to be the only sides of this. that's it. that's the whole circus act.

Mostly, I’m just wondering where you hang out that someone mentions Avatar once a year. I hadn’t heard a word about it in over a decade until the buzz about a sequel started maybe a year and a half ago.

The Walt Disney World fandom for me never lets me forget it because of the . Granted, they also were like "this is dumb; no one's going to buy admission to a theme park just to see that like they would with Harry Potter or Star Wars", only for it to be one of the best things Disney has added to their parks in the last decade because of how gorgeous it is

Same goes for the movies. They work as visually gorgeous experiences that are great in 3D and that are akin to theme park attractions, and then you leave the world when you leave the theatre. That's fine. Not every film franchise needs to be endlessly talked about by a fandom like the MCU

DA

Don’t agree that Pandora was one of the best things Disney added to their parks. It’s kind of pretty, but not nearly as fun to me as anything it replaced. I also feel that way about the multitude of Star Wars they added since the new trilogy, so maybe I just don’t like change.

I’m not including classic Star Wars attractions like Star Tours when I mention the Star Wars additions, just the new stuff. I loved the old Star Wars attractions :(
