Question

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I've had this weird feeling in my ear off and on all day. I've had ringing before, but this is different. It feels like I'm feeling my pulse as well as hearing it. Like my ear is actually throbbing along with my heartbeat. But not all the time, not regular, just periodically for a few minutes and then stops.

Sounds like low blood pressure to me. But I'm definitely not a doctor.

Okay, now you're scaring me. I don't have any other symptoms that I would think would be associated with low blood pressure. Not dizzy, not confused, not throwing up, haven't fainted.

Should I go to the ER, or is it safe to wait until morning?

nayrt - If you're not having any other symptoms, I think you're safe to just make an appointment with your regular doctor. Might be high blood pressure. I have it all the time, despite being on medication for high blood pressure.

AYRT

Okay, thanks. Also if I wait till morning, I'll know if it was migraine aura. I've gotten tinnitus with an aura before, just not pulsing like this.

Crap. This is something I never really considered a problem, as I've had this intermittently since my 20s. I've almost grown to like the situation. Of course, I also have really bad vestibular nerve damage. If your mobility is not immediately impacted, I'd log all other symptoms for a couple days so you can brings these details to a doctor (primary care or ENT).
