Pierre Bezukhov did something! He saved a little girl from a burning house! (kind of*) And then she was so scared and young and small and dirty that she tried to get away from him and lashed out in panic and Pierre had to restrain himself from drop-kicking her. 19th century Moscow didn’t have Firefighters coming to kindergartens teaching kids not to be scared of strange men in burning houses I guess. Lack of foresight on their part.

(*I say kind of because he just kind of hands the girl over to a lady who *might* know who/where the kid’s family is, he had other hero shit to do but STILL. I don’t think we’ll ever know if the little girl made it back to her family. I’m stressed, fuck’s sake.)
