Griffith didn't commit genocide. He just killed a lot of people, that's very different. (Eren in this is worse)
What truly horrifies people in Griffith's case is that he sacrificed his own friends because of his ubris and because he was a coward (the ritual happened at his lowest point).

Eren's motivation are completely different. His are very political and the main difference is that Even is not alone in his ideal and policy while Griffith was in his ultimate choice.

The similarities between the two scenarios are not very strong imho but I'm probably dense.

I do think Eren overall did way worse than Griffith, especially considering all the political and genocidal implication.
Shingeki no Kyojin's fandom is... Umh... Particular, let's say. I'm not going to go near that fascist infested nest.
