just read a time travel fic, which is a plotline that I generally really like. but I guess they didn't think through the mechanics of time travel enough? or something?

so basically there's a character who canonically dies in the storyline, and the characters in this fic could have easily prevented that death without changing the timeline in any way. and instead they just don't. they just hightail it back to their home timeline leaving this one character to get brutally murdered. it's supposed to be a happy ending and I'm just like... wait, what about Bob???

I recently had a whole fic plotted out down to certain scenes and then I realized with one change to the story, (one character lives instead of dying like in canon), there would be no reason for a SECOND character (who kills himself because he accidentally killed the first character) to die at all so I had to completely REWRITE the entire story from the ground up and it's SO MUCH BETTER NOW with the added character living too. I love it and I can't believe I almost created a 'but what about Bob?' scenario and am so glad I avoided that, lol.
