I wouldn't even say it's cringe. Fantasies that take place in fiction can be a safe space for women (and young women) to explore their desires, look at what makes that relationship dynamic tick, etc. Romanticizing it or moving that to real life would be a problem, of course. But fiction is fiction is fiction.

I haven't read Making Money in years so I can't recall if this is actually the case but "Ankh-Morpork's official legal minting process involves a dude hunched over a piece of metal laboriously carving out the face of a sovereign" seems like very plausible Discworld worldbuilding

Firefly was severely overrated up through ~2008 or so, then it was somewhat overrated up through 2015 or so. I have a really hard time saying it's still overrated now. People don't love it as much as they used to, people who hate it are now very open about being critical about it, and everyone actively hates the guy who made it.

I'm so bored with how the hypercompetent girlboss thing is treated like the only acceptable archetype for girls to read about. It's ok to fantasize about being a passive little princess. Often it's the overachievers who are most into it because they need a fucking break!
