I want AO3 to open itself up to being sued by giant corporations so that I can make money! Also, fuck anyone else that reads fic or has fanworks on the site that would risk getting completely shut down down if it did that, 'cause I want money for my fic (and my random fanfic is so good that strangers are totally gonna pay me to read them, right? That's how this works, right?)

Whoo boy, this again.

The OTW is a nonprofit. Their "millions in donations" are used to cover expenses like "the cost of maintaining the servers your fic is hosted on."

If you don't think that's a good use of your money...don't donate. And if you feel scammed by its very existence...nothing is stopping you from buying your own servers, hosting your fic there, and using that platform to take as many personal donations as you want! You can even install your own copy of the AO3 archive software, which is free and open-source, to do it.

No, I mean, come on. It's a ship that's often used for armed diplomacy and exploring in the dangerous reaches of space. It's constantly in danger of blowing up. The dissonance of having families in that situation is obvious.

Personally I like the underlying idea although the execution was very flawed at times. A lot of it suffered from not really thinking through the details - IE, how awkward and difficult to execute the whole saucer separation concept was.

But it's not fashy to dislike it FFS.
