(Anonymous) 2023-02-18 04:08 am (UTC)(link)This is so wrong and repulsive, but a part of me is still grateful that you're doing this.
I feel dirty.
I wished I'd never seen this secret because from now on every time I see an orphaned work I'm going to wonder...
This is one of the *worst* secrets I've read here and I've been here for 10+ years. Kudos for that, I guess.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-18 04:15 am (UTC)(link)btw I'm someone that download/copypaste every fic I read. I'm a hoarder.
I have old fics saved from 2001 in a huge collection of .txt, .docs and .mobi files.
A lot of those fics have been deleted due to site migrations etc, but I still have them. I sometimes reread my favourites and I've never feel guilty about that (some people do).
But in all these years I have never ever thought about reposting them... Fuck this.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-18 04:46 am (UTC)(link)Same. Like I get the disappointment of realising you can't read a beloved story anymore, but it's 2023 and we should all know by now that shit gets deleted for any number of reasons and won't always be there forever. If you're really attached to a fic, then it's kind of on you to preserve it for yourself, not on the creator to keep it available.
