Thank you. Yes.

To me, the best superhero show on TV is/was Legends of Tomorrow. They might be a complete shower of disaster artists, but at least they are 100% on screwing things up for the better as their aim. They care, more than any other DC show, about actually trying to be a positive force in the world.

I agree personally, though to each their own. This is one reason I've always found Superman way more interesting than Batman. And why I hate the current DCU movies, other than Wonder Woman 1 and Aquaman.

This is largely why I loved the newest Batman movie so much. Yes, the setting is really dark and gritty, but the character of Batman is very much an idealistic hero. And his character development makes him even more so.

I assume this must refer to the upcoming The Flash movie with Michael Keaton being back in the role, because otherwise this makes no sense.

No, the 2022 movie with Pattinson

Gotcha, you are making no sense. That movie is a hot mess, not an idealistic paragon of hope and idealism.

Yes, I'm so with you on this! I was completely disinterested in The Batman before its release, but when I finally watched it I was so impressed by how well it managed to find a balance between depressive neo-noir and nuanced humanism. The Nolan trilogy was fairly solid, but it was very much of its time, and I was extremely skeptical that Matt Reeves would be able to find a way of updating it for the current cultural climate, but he absolutely did, and he did it beautifully (IMO).

That said, as much as I wholeheartedly agree with you, something tells me that The Batman is very much not the kind of movie OP had in mind when they wrote this secret--at least not as an example of what they like. I could be wrong, though, I obviously can't speak for OP.

My attitude towards superheroes is the same as my attitude towards Dungeons and Dragons-style adventurers. If you try to create a plausible setting where it makes sense that they exist, you'll end up with some kind of dystopia. But I find it more appealing when it doesn't try to make sense and just leans into the stupid.

The moment people start asking ‘how can we make a dragon work Realistically’ they miss the point of fantasy, it’s not meant to be realistic it’s meant to be fun and anything that doesn’t lean into that is boring as fuck.

Yup. Although, Batman, at least, doesn't have superpowers except his wealth. So he can kind of be made to be believable, though even the Dark Knight trilogy did at least get close to dystopia.
