+1. I just wanna escape for a bit. No clever fourth wall breaking tyvm. The off button is always there and there are plenty of books that fill the bill.

My main feeling about this movie is that the cast is really hot.

And my main expectation and hope for the movie is that they just show us everyone in the cast being hot together in fantasy outfits. If they do that I'll be happy.

For the most part, I agree with you about this trope being overdone (and often badly done as well)

But as a player and DM, I want an after-credit meta joke /so bad/.

It does look like a love letter to the Forgotten Realms, though, so I'm going to have a lovely time regardless.

I like to imagine that, after credits, it shows Jeremy Irons having been the DM of the campaign. Grinning like a madman, and then absolutely livid when his players admit they didn't appreciate his previous campaign.

She-Hulk and Deadpool have this as a basic conceit of the characters and that's fine, though not my favourite thing. D&D on the other hand doesn't have to have that at all, not as injokes, not as meta, not as fourth-wall breaking, and most of the successful D&D-related properties up to the Critical Role-style podcasts/vids do not even attempt to break the fourth wall.

What about the Order of The Stick?

From the trailer it looks like straight up fantasy except the sound track is modern which is eh.
