As someone who's mostly been active in small fandoms, I think I get the appeal to big fandoms now. I wrote a couple fics for a huge fandom and the engagement for those fics were a lot of fun.

Larger fandoms open you up to meet more people. I think what is daunting to me is knowing how to find "my people". Small fandoms kind of force me to hang out with what little people there are and we manage to make it work...whereas large fandoms you work your way through groups to figure out where you best fit in.
And I'm not good at that NGL
