I agree about SG1, but I liked Atlantis because it was basically the same but the main culture they were exploring was technologically advanced and thus ALSO mythologized to the vast majority of the non-technologically advanced societies.

I liked the idea of Atlantis and a lot of the worldbuilding. But most of the characters were so unlikable I only lasted until a couple episodes into season 3,

That's fair. I liked most of the characters, but can easily see why someone wouldn't. There were a LOT of assholes on that city.

I liked Atlantis a lot, too, for Rodney and John and Ronon and Tayla, and for the exploring stuff. Didn't enjoy the White Colonizer/US is Best crap that got shoved in there way too much.

I agree (although RepliCarter was hot lol).

I liked Universe more than Atlantis though. Both had bottom of the barrel stories, but at least the Universe cast could act imo. Outside of the annoying science man on Atlantis (Randy? Rodney?), that cast was painful for me to watch.

So this would imply that you prefer the Ori to the replicators? And that seems dubious to me

I never really got into SG1 all that much. It was okay, but it never really *grabbed* me. I enjoyed SG:A a lot (and loved the 'Team' and the exploring), but wasn't pleased with all the colonizer shite.

I actually REALLY liked SG:U a LOT; some of the characters where horrifying, but the story itself was really neat and interesting, and of course...Robert Carlyle.

I wasn't so into the fandom at the time to be pissed at how SG:U came about, so that didn't taint the show for me.

SGU is my favorite show because of the caliber of the acting - Robert Carlyle and Louis Ferreria and Lou Diamond Phillips and Ming Na were all stellar (no pun intended) and were too good for a mid-budget scifi show made in Canada but here we are. Universe also gets a ton of hate for stuff that wasn't even its fault (the shaky cam was a travesty but we can adjust but Atlantis was NOT cancelled for SGU so some things should be set straight in the record).

Yay! It's hard to find people who liked SG:U. The acting *was* stellar, and a lot of the stories were really interesting and different.

Same.

SG1 was okay for about 6 seasons, I thought Atlantis was absolutely dreadful, but SGU was fantastic. Best one, hands down.

I'd give about anything for a new season of SG:U or even a two hour wrap up kind of thing or SOMETHING......

Oh, man, I thought the mythology stuff was so cheesy. But I really adored anything involving Jack and the Asgard. Really, though, I was into it for the team. Once Jack left, I lost interest and moved onto SGA. Loved that team as well.
