I like subtitles, but I do read very quickly and they don't dampen my enjoyment of things. Sometimes I turn them on for English language programs so I don't miss what's being said (or if someone else in the house is being a bit noisy).

But have you considered that this could be an excuse because your friend isn't interested in some foreign media that you rec?

People have tried to get me to watch Cdramas and I do not care about them in the least and don't want to watch Cdramas. I could see using this excuse if someone is INSISTING that I watch something I don't want to check out.

...but I like Kdramas.

That's just a bit shitty excuse though...

But I am with you about cdramas! I hate them, I think I've even made a secret about it. I just can't stand this airbrushed nonsense.
But kdramas can be really fun.
