Dear Fanfiction,

You know how important you have been to me, since I was a kid in middle school. Especially during high school. As time went on though, my relationship with you has changed. You became a place that I would escape to instead of dealing with my issues. A place where I would ignore real life in exchange for a fantasy. I found myself in as many dark spaces as fun spaces with you. I found myself reading things that began to mess with my mind. Reading things that were taking over my time. You weren't taking me anyplace good anymore, and while we've always had fun, who's to say you were never leading me down a dark road to begin with? After all, you were to me what drugs are for many. It started as a good time, I didn't even realize I was reading fic when we started; you were free, you were there, you had all the things and people I loved, all I had to do was look. And there you'd be. And I loved you. There are still so many stories I wish I could have finished reading or writing. Stories I wish I had saved a copy of somewhere, many bookmarks that are still half read, Wisps waiting for updates, saved on my devices.

But I am stepping away from you because this is no longer healthy for me. It hasn't been for a long while. Thanks for all the good times we've had; there's been many and you've been formative force in my life. I don't quite know how I'll do fandom without you, but I guess I'll figure it out.

I don't know if I'll ever come back to you, even if it's just a visit. Maybe one day, when I'm doing better. Maybe not ever again. I still talk about you as if I'm still reading and writing fic, but I'm not. And maybe that's how you'll stay, a memory, and with enough distance, it will be a rosy colored one too. I lived so much through you, so many lives. It's time I go out and actually live my own story. It's the only one I've got, after all.

I love fix-its set during the prequel/TCW era! But if you want a reason to continue watching: some of those fics are even cooler when you've seen the other movies and shows.

I miss them too. And it could just be that I haven't participated in anything since roughly 2013, but I'm surprised to hear any comms are still active.

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice. Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.
