Yeah, they suck. I always disable them when I can but it sucks that they keep popping up every 30 days.

It's especially stupid because like.... the short length is not the main attraction of Tiktok anyway! The magic dust of Tiktok is the algorithm and the For You feed, not the length of the videos or the fact that they're vertical.

The reason why YT shorts astounds me is because I notice the overwhelming majority of people that use YT prefer longer videos. That's why people go to YT for longer videos about a certain topic and go to TikTok for bite-sized things.

I don't know where I'd be without my list of favorite several-hour long video essays on YT about random fandom nonsense.
