I think the only other time I've seen that phrasing used was towards young black actresses who had to deal with open hostility and racist BS and were handling it with more grace than expected for their years, in which case: Yes, I agree, they deserve to be protected and surrounded with love.

(Anonymous) 2023-04-02 12:10 am (UTC)(link)I've seen it recently with Keanu Reeves, Brendan Fraser and Pedro Pascal and with Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston in the past. In the context I've seen it, it's always with men. Yes, they seem like nice people (I've always had a soft spot for Pedro and Tom Hiddleston in particular). But agreed, to me it always came across as infantalising. These are grown men who are at the height of privelege.
