Both of those contexts make way more sense compared to what I've seen. The contexts I've encountered involve men that are perceived to be vulnerable in one way or another.

Oof yeah. Possibly one reason I haven't seen that is because I am not exactly in tune with modern media and mostly don't see stuff about actors/artists unless they've been around for a long time. :\

Agreed, OP.
I've seen it recently with Keanu Reeves, Brendan Fraser and Pedro Pascal and with Chris Evans and Tom Hiddleston in the past. In the context I've seen it, it's always with men. Yes, they seem like nice people (I've always had a soft spot for Pedro and Tom Hiddleston in particular). But agreed, to me it always came across as infantalising. These are grown men who are at the height of privelege.
